Late in 1998 or early in 1999 StarNine Technologies of Berkeley hired me to do a cover illustration for a brochure that they were producing to promote the new version of their WebSTAR web server software for the Macintosh. They also wanted a series of little icons that would be used to illustrate the various section of the brochure. The finished brochure was distributed at the 1999 MacWORLD Expo in San Francisco. The client supplied the title, and I developed a sort of 1920s Popular Science look for the cover, which I then carried over into the icons. The artwork was done entirely with Adobe Illustrator. The client liked the cover illustration so much that they printed it on T-shirts and distributed those at the Expo as well. They were also going to have me do the
