Glitches

Because of this file's age and my inexperience and lack of imagination when I created it, it has one cosmetic bug (which doesn't interfere with its function) and one mildly impolite side effect.

The side effect concerns your monitor's color depth. The Director file switches your monitor to 256 colors so it can do some transition effects that involve manipulating the palette. That's not so bad, but it doesn't switch the monitor depth back again when you quit, which would be the polite thing to do, and I should have thought of it when I was making the thing.

Also, when I built my interactive portfolio the Mac II was a relatively new machine, and 640x480 was the standard screen size. Consequently it never occurred to me to consider how it would look on a larger screen, and a page that was supposed to look like this:

...winds up looking like this:

Everything still works fine, but you see a part of the machinery that was supposed to be invisible. The little pane titled "The Control Panel" at the lower right corner of the screen is a cast member that is swapped for the appropriate help message and placed where your cursor is when you command-click on an object that has a help method associated with it.

I'd go back and try to fix these bugs, but at some point over the years my copy of the source file has become corrupted, and I can no longer open it. I'm left with a working Projector file, but no way to make any changes to it. C'est la vie.
