3D Modeling and Rendering

Wedding Invitation Images

Hash Animation:Master, 1999

By far my most complex scene to date. I very nearly wasn't able to get it rendered. Uses texture, bump, displacement, ambient and clip maps.

Still Life With Red-i-Racer

Hash Animation:Master, 1999

A little tableau I built to play around with transparency, reflections and texture maps. The water glass and marble use gradient materials that reflect more at their edges than at their centers, and the eraser with a paperclip stuck in it has texture maps for the "GUMCO Red-i-racer" label and the smudges.

Nickelodeon Blimp

Pixar MacRenderMan, @1993(?)

I modelled a point-of-sale inflatable blimp and composited it into photographs of store scenes. Seams and puckers in the blimp were done with displacement maps.

Making Smoke With Animated Displacement Maps

Hash Animation:Master, 1999

An improvement on a technique for using animated displacement maps to produce a roiling pillar of smoke. I went a step further by using anisotropic materials that fade towards transparency at their edges.

Partial Facial Model

Hash Animation:Master, 1999

My first attempt at making a lifelike human face.

Happy New Year

Inspire 3D, 1999

A simple clip I made to try out Inspire's animation features.

Polygonal Models & Metanurbs

Inspire 3D, 1999

Just a random collection of objects that I built while experimenting with Inspire's modeller. Some were built with Inspire's Metanurbs.

Walk Cycle Tutorial

Hash Animation:Master, 1999

My first attempt at animating a character following one of Hash's tutorials and using their Jeff Model.

Sunset & Flames

Hash Animation:Master, 1999

A Hash tutorial on particle systems. My contribution to their scene is a time-lapse sunset effect.
